The experience of abuse, neglect or other traumas, have significant impacts on a personal, emotional, mental and spiritual level, these impacts of often complex and invisible – loss of identity, poor boundary setting skills, chronic pain, anxiety, depression and the list goes on.
Abusers not only steal and disconnect you from your authentic self, the abuser also projects unhealed parts of themselves on to you, unconsciously you may carry those parts for many years, even a lifetime
If somebody stole physical items from you, you would attempt to recover those items, take legal action and seek compensation.
I am sure a vast majority of people who have experienced abuse and trauma, would much rather leave that chapter of life in the past, and just move on with life.
Unfortunately, the roadmap to recovery from trauma is not based on logic alone – no matter how many times you berate yourself saying I should be over this by now.
You probably won’t be over it until the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of healing from trauma, have been addressed.
Seeking legal justice is extremely difficult for people who have experienced trauma, in fact the current systems often cause more trauma to victims – so for many people, seeking legal compensation is not viable, and even if there is some financial compensation, money does not heal trauma, It may give you more options and access to support.
The great news is, there is hope, there are ways to heal your trauma, and reclaim you and consciously create a life you love. There are a lot of emerging techniques towards healing trauma, so if my theories don’t vibe with you, then please keep searching.
